Named in honor of Albany, New York, the City of Albany‘s motto is “Urban Village by the Bay”. It occupies the northern tip of Alameda County, bordering Berkeley to the south and east. Albany’s 1.7 square miles of land is primarily residential, with a large bay waterfront.
Living in Albany
Our landscape is generally flat, with the exception of Albany Hill, a large open space landmark and park in the path of the cool sea winds blowing through the Golden Gate. Albany is very walkable and a biker’s paradise, with a Walk Score of 82 and a Bike Score of 95.
